Goa'uld means "God" in the Goa'uld language

Started out as water beings who moved to land as predators.    Used the native race called Unas as their first hosts so that they may adapt to the world around them quicker.

Learned to use and adapt the Ancients techonology left behind to their advantage - considered savangers for this reason.

Has complete control of the host - eyes glow when Gou'ald symbiote is revealing itself to others.

A special class of Goa'uld include the Queen who are responsible for producing new young larval Goa'uld for implantation into Jaffa. When encountering a new tribe of Humans or a different race, the Queen requires to first sample the code of life, known as DNA, from the species intended to be a host. This is to ensure that there is no rejection during the process between host and larva.

The Gou'ald showed to be the one of the only species with enough strength, confidence and arrogance to control the keys given out by the Council of Illuminaira.    Some Gou'ald remained in the Illuninaria Realm as warriors instead of ruling over lower species.
